1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how 1543851 Alberta Ltd operating as PAWS Dog Daycare ("PAWS", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects the personal information of our clients and website visitors.

We are located at 1313 16 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T3C 0Z7, Canada.

We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information.

By using our website or our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information through several channels depending on how you interact with us.

Contact Form

When you submit an inquiry through the contact form on our website, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message. This information is transmitted to us via Postmark, a transactional email delivery service. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry.

Gingr Client Portal

If you are a PAWS client, your booking and account information is managed through Gingr, a third-party pet care management platform. Information collected through Gingr may include your name, home address, phone number, email address, emergency contacts, and pet information such as your dog's name, breed, vaccination records, and health or behavioural notes. Payment processing within Gingr is handled by Gingr's own payment processors. Gingr's privacy policy governs how that platform collects and handles your data.

Online Shop (Stripe)

Our online shop uses Stripe-hosted Payment Links. When you click a "Buy" button, you are redirected to Stripe's secure checkout on Stripe's domain. Stripe collects the information necessary to complete the transaction — typically your name, email address, billing address, and payment details — and processes the payment under Stripe's privacy policy. We do not collect or store payment card details on our website. We receive transaction records from Stripe (purchase amount, product, customer name, and email) and retain those records for accounting and service-delivery purposes.

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our website, Cloudflare (our content delivery network and security provider) automatically logs certain technical information including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited. Cloudflare retains these logs for a maximum of 72 hours for security and performance purposes. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, manage, and improve our dog daycare and boarding services
  • To process bookings and payments
  • To communicate with you about your appointments, reservations, and your dog's care
  • To respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form
  • To verify vaccination records and ensure the health and safety of all dogs in our care
  • To improve our website and the quality of our services
  • To comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Cookies and Tracking

Our static website does not use tracking cookies, Google Analytics, or any first-party cookies. We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels of any kind.

Our contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot-verification service. Turnstile may set a short-lived cookie or use browser signals to verify that you are a human visitor. This cookie is used solely for verification and contains no personal tracking data. Turnstile does not build user profiles or link verification data to your identity.

If you complete a purchase through our online shop, you are redirected to Stripe's hosted checkout, which may set functional cookies on Stripe's domain to support the checkout flow. Similarly, the Gingr client portal may set its own functional cookies required for authentication and booking. Please refer to the respective platform privacy policies for details.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party service providers to operate our website and deliver our services. Each provider has its own privacy policy governing its data practices.

Cloudflare

Cloudflare provides content delivery network (CDN) services, DDoS protection, and web application firewall (WAF) security for our website. Cloudflare processes web traffic on our behalf and retains request logs for up to 72 hours. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare Turnstile

Cloudflare Turnstile is used on our contact form to verify that submissions come from real human visitors. Turnstile does not track users across sites or set advertising cookies. It is a privacy-preserving alternative to traditional CAPTCHA systems.

Postmark

Contact form submissions are delivered to us via Postmark, a transactional email service operated by Wildbit. Postmark receives your name, email address, phone number, and message content only for the purpose of delivering the message to our inbox. Postmark does not use this data for its own purposes beyond transmission and delivery logging.

Gingr

Gingr is the pet care management software we use for client accounts, scheduling, and bookings. Client data entered into the Gingr portal is stored and processed by Gingr under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Gingr's Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled within their platform.

Stripe

Stripe processes all online shop purchases through its hosted Payment Links. When you complete a purchase, Stripe collects your name, email, billing address, and payment details on its own infrastructure and processes the transaction under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full payment card number. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how Stripe handles your data.

Google Maps

Our contact page includes an embedded Google Maps widget to help visitors find our location. When you view a page containing an embedded map, your browser connects to Google's servers. Google may collect information in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

Google Fonts

Our website loads font files from Google Fonts servers. When your browser requests a font, it sends your IP address and browser information to Google. We use Google Fonts to ensure consistent typography across devices and operating systems. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.

6. AI and Machine Learning

We publish llms.txt and llms-full.txt files on our website. These files contain publicly available information about our business — our services, hours, location, and policies — in a structured format designed to help AI-powered search engines (such as Perplexity AI and ChatGPT) accurately represent PAWS when answering user queries about dog daycare in Calgary.

These files contain no personal information about our clients, staff, or any individual. They are intended solely for informational indexing by AI search platforms.

Our robots.txt file permits reputable AI search engine crawlers to index our public content. However, we block crawlers that are used exclusively for AI model training without indexing (including GPTBot and CCBot), in keeping with our stance that our content may be used to answer questions about PAWS but should not be used as generic training data without our consent.

7. CASL Compliance (Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation)

We comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We only send commercial electronic messages (CEMs) — including promotional emails and newsletters — to individuals who have provided express or implied consent to receive them.

Every commercial electronic message we send includes a clear and functioning unsubscribe mechanism. You can withdraw your consent to receive CEMs at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any message or by contacting us directly at info@pawsdogdaycare.ca. Unsubscribe requests will be honored within 10 business days.

Transactional messages related to your existing service relationship with PAWS (such as booking confirmations and appointment reminders) may be sent without separate consent, as they are necessary to deliver the services you have requested.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We may share your personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate our business, including Gingr (booking management), Postmark (email delivery), Cloudflare (website security), and payment processors (Stripe). These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may only use it to perform services on our behalf.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose personal information when required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or other legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of PAWS, our clients, or others.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to comply with applicable legal obligations. Our general retention periods are as follows:

  • Contact form submissions: Retained for up to 2 years.
  • Gingr client records: Retained for the duration of the client relationship plus 3 years following the end of that relationship.
  • Payment and financial records: Retained for 7 years in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements.
  • Cloudflare access logs: Automatically purged after 72 hours.

When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is securely deleted or anonymized.

10. Data Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously. We have implemented the following measures to protect your data:

  • All data transmitted between your browser and our website is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS).
  • Our website is protected by Cloudflare's web application firewall (WAF), which helps prevent unauthorized access and malicious traffic.
  • Access to personal information is limited to staff members who need it to carry out their job responsibilities.
  • We use reputable, security-certified third-party processors (Gingr, Stripe, Postmark) who maintain their own security controls.

While we take reasonable commercial steps to protect your personal information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and any transmission of personal data to us is at your own risk.

11. Children's Privacy

Our website includes a coloring pages section designed for children to enjoy. However, this section does not collect any personal information. Our website is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our contact form or any other means.

If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our records. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at info@pawsdogdaycare.ca.

12. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Right to access: You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to receive an explanation of how it has been used and disclosed.
  • Right to correction: You have the right to request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your personal information, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to provide certain services to you. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out prior to withdrawal.
  • Right to file a complaint: You have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have handled your personal information in a manner that does not comply with PIPEDA.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us in writing at info@pawsdogdaycare.ca. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal obligations. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date at the top of the document.

We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of our website or services after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
